Shasta Averyhardt, professional golfer and Bill Dickey Scholarship Association (BDSA) Alumna, was recently inducted into the 2018 Class of Jackson State University Sports Hall of Fame.
Shasta was first introduced to the BDSA as a high school junior and was invited to play in the Bill Dickey Invitational Junior Golf Championship (BDI), her junior and senior year. She was focused in two areas, her education and golf which aligned with the BDSA scholarship objectives. As a premier BDSA scholar, it fueled her passion for learning and propelled her drive to successfully graduate with an Accounting degree from Jackson State. She excelled on the course winning nine collegiate golf tournaments, which included four individual SWAC Conference Championships, fast forwarding… in 2011 she became a member on the LPGA Tour.
Shasta will be the first to tell you, that the path to success has had it challenges and reward; however, her love for the game is imminent, she is determined to realize her dream. Shasta’s recent induction speaks volumes, as an accomplished performer. Ashley Robinson , a JSU Vice President and Director of Athletics, told the honorees, “You are the very best from classes past, and we ensure your feats will always be remembered.” Shasta, the Bill Dickey Scholarship Association congratulates you on your induction and wishes you continued success.
