The East West Golf Classic was a distinguished golf event founded by the late Bill Dickey in January 1983, in Scottsdale, Arizona and continued for 35 years until it ended in January 2018, in Orlando, Florida.

The golf tournament began by Dickey inviting a diverse group of friends, colleagues, mainstream corporate executives, and others to play the game they relished for two days. Guests and participants had opportunities to network, enjoy camaraderie, entertainment, and prizes, which initially generated funds that aided four student golfers. The first tournament yielded $1,500 and provided four BDSA scholars with $500 scholarships to attend their college/university of choice.

The East/West Golf Classic event became the premiere fundraiser for the Association and facilitated the organization to award over 1,130 students with scholarships of more than $3.75 million dollars, since its inception.
